Over the course of 2017, the shopping data experts at global fashion search platform Lyst have been keeping tabs on the handbags and shoes — namely, sneakers — that its users have searched for again and again. Lyst monitored the shopping habits of its 80 million users worldwide and tracked more than 100 million searches; it crunched the queries, page views and sales data across five million fashion products from 12,000 designers and stores. With the year coming to a close in just a few short weeks, Lyst filled us in on its findings, which confirm that 2017 was a brightly colored year complete with sparkles, logos, chunky sneakers, Gucci and more Gucci.
From Instagrammable bags to clunky Balenciaga sneakers, see what you wanted to carry and wear on your feet this year in the galleries below.
THE MOST-SEARCHED HANDBAGS
This year, we toted our necessities in bags that warranted likes. In other words? The most popular carryalls were those seen hanging from the shoulders or wrapped around the waists (belt bags) of our favorite “It” girls. From Cult Gaia’s influencer favorite Ark bag to Gucci’s now-classic Marmont purse, these are top 10 most popular handbags of 2017.
THE MOST-SEARCHED SHOES
Blame it on either global warming or Gucci’s remarkable selling power, but the Gucci’s GG Blooms Supreme Pool Slide is the most-searched shoe of the year – a top spot it’s held since summer. But for those who don’t lounge poolside all year round, designer sock boots, crystal-encrusted Saint Laurent shoes, sky-high stilettos and mules were among a some other footwear favorites this year.
THE MOST-SEARCHED SNEAKERS
Believe it or not, there were more searches for sneakers than handbags this year. In fact, more than three million shoppers frequented Lyst each month in search of a pair of delectable, Rihanna-approved kicks. The top 10 most-wanted sneakers, listed in the gallery below, combine new designer goods with many dollar signs — Balenciaga, Gucci — with some covetable classics with lower price tags — Adidas, Vans, Nike. And the top spot goes to a well-deserved Rihanna and Puma for the Fenty x Puma Bow Sneaker.
