Rakyan’s fine jewellery, synonymous with high-fashion jewellery is currently headed by brother-sister duo, Priyanka and Varun Rakyan. Working under their father’s guidance, they work father to provide avant-garde pieces to a discerning clientele. The jewellery label has been creating exclusive pieces for loyal clients for over five generations. Their patrons include high-society families from New Delhi and royal families of UAE. Over one-on-one exclusive appointments, the jewellers understand their client’s requirements before beginning the creative journey.

What to look out for?
“This collection is called the ‘Personal Trousseau Collection’ and is inspired by my personal experience as a bride. In keeping with all the nuances of the bridal ensemble, including clothes, jewellery, hair and make-up, the collection serves as a mood board for a bride’s wedding trousseau. While I conceptualised the designs, Varun was the driving force behind the creation process,” says Priyanka.

What’s trending?
Although we mainly carry fine jewellery pieces featuring Burmese rubies, rose-cut diamonds and briolettes, as well as an extensive line of large diamond solitaires, this year we have focused on emeralds. It is a classic and timeless gemstone that one can’t go wrong with.

Who is a standout bride?
A standout bride is one that is confident in her own skin, traditional yet free-spirited enough to enjoy the events unfolding around her. She remembers that this is her special day and doesn’t forget to have a good time.

Practical advice for the bride-to-be?
The jewellery worn on the wedding day is a bride’s most prized possession. It is an investment of a lifetime and must therefore be chosen cautiously. Whether it’s polki or diamonds, the pieces should be detachable, enabling them to be worn at a later time.

Tips for the bridal party:
Groom: Kalgi and Kantha is a must have for every groom. It is one of the only opportunities for him to adorn these pieces of jewellery and he must take advantage of it.

Mother of the bride: Since this is the day most mothers have been dreaming about, it is the perfect occasion to go all out. Whether it be a tikka, nath or necklace, the mother of the bride would shine in whatever she opts for.

Father of the bride: Achkan buttons and a matching broach are the perfect choice! Either rubies on black or emeralds on white makes for a complete outfit.
