San Francisco police rarely seek public help in solving the city’s frequent car burglaries, but this was no ordinary break-in.

Roughly $900,000 worth of jewelry was stolen at about noon Aug. 12 from a black 2016 Cadillac Escalade parked in the Ocean Beach lot near the Great Highway and Balboa Street, officials said Friday.

The burglar or burglars smashed the rear driver’s-side window and took two tote bags from the rear cargo area.
