WE know what it’s like when you find a pair of shoes you LOVE – you just want to show them off as much as possible.
But try to resist the urge of wearing the same ones every day.
According to expert Jim Kass, vice president for American shoe giant Allen Edmonds, giving them a rest will result in them lasting much longer.
While that sounds fairly obvious, the reason that wearing them every day will resign them to the bin so much quicker is actually quite surprising – and pretty gross.
Throughout the day, leather shoes will soak up the sweat generated from your feet.
Grim as it sounds, that’s actually pretty normal – but the problems start when you don’t allow the shoes enough time to air and dry out.
Kass told Business Insider: “If you wear the same pair every day, your shoes don’t have ample time to dry and they won’t maintain their shape.”
Putting them on while they’re still slightly damp with perspiration will cause the leather to warp, and your shoes will start to lose their shape.
