Earthcore headliners accuse promoter of not paying them amid cancellations

Australia’s Earthcore festival is facing some serious controversy after cancelled headliners alleged they were not playing because they had not been paid.

Israeli duo Coming Soon and Danish artist Phaxe posted to Facebook announcing they had decided to cancel their appearance at the event, due to kick off from November 23-27 at Pyalong, Victoria.

“The reason for the cancellation is because the owner of this festival didn’t pay us until now and didn’t even book a flight,” Coming Soon wrote.

“(This is) after promising every week that he will send and after many threats of cancelling us if we will not be patient.

“We just have to mention that we never got treated like that ever in our 15 years in the industry and we will never work with this promoter ever again!”

The duo wrote that “more than 10” other artists facing the same issues would also pull out of the festival.

Danish artist Phaxe posted: “We are sorry to announce that Phaxe, Metronome, Martin Vice/MVMB and Joel Rowdy has to cancel the Australia tour for Earthcore, as the organiser did not fulfill the terms of our agreement.”

Earthcore’s most recent post shows work underway on the main stage and states set times will be released tomorrow (November 22).

An Earthcore post on the Facebook page for the Queensland event contradicts the artists’ version of events, stating: “Due to circumstances beyond our control Coming Soon and Bliss has double booked themselves for the same date. We apologise for any inconvenience caused – the show must go on!”

The brand also stops over in several other Australian cities for a string of one day parties alongside the main multi-day camping event.
